“Can it really take off? This is incredible!”
“This is so cool! Can we make another one?”
Just imagine tomorrow morning, when everyone is rushing down the stairs, the four of them in the dormitory will gracefully descend from the sky with their hovering devices, flying into the classroom. How cool would that be?
“That’s not possible.”
How could only one be made?
Ye Qiu hung his head, “We’re out of money.”
“All the money I made online has gone into buying materials.”
Mu Tao’s eyes lit up; his family is wealthy.
Even though his father seemed to have some status in the capital, there was still a gap to break into the high society. So, after he entered the Capital University, his first task was to befriend those top students.
Since he was a child, his father had patted his head, saying, “Son, don’t think your dad is capable now. If you don’t study hard, one day, all this will vanish. Have you seen how the children of the truly rich are all studying hard? Only studying can make you richer!”
But the reality was harsh; his father wasn’t cut out for studying, and he had perfectly inherited that trait. He was devastated but fortunately also inherited his father’s discerning eye for people, successfully leveraging the top students and squeezing into the Capital University. It truly proved that the little that smart people leave behind is enough for you to eat your fill.
Now, the opportunity had come!
Mu Tao shared his thoughts with Ye Qiu.
Eagerly pulling him, they rushed towards the company.
Start-up funds secured √
On the way to Mu’s company, they passed tall buildings, with screams from the crowd echoing.
“Ahhhhh!”
“A kid fell down!”
“Help! Someone get something to cushion the fall!”
People below scrambled to find something to catch the child, but all around were high rises, with no blankets or anything to be found. The child fell amidst the fearful eyes of the crowd, and some even shut their eyes, unwilling to witness the cruel scene.
Many witnesses below screamed in horror.
In a critical moment.
Ye Qiu took the hover device from his backpack, donned it on his arm, and slowly took off, soaring into the air, catching the falling child.
“Mom, look! It’s Superman!”
“Is this… lightness skill? How can he fly? Am I seeing things? Is it magic?”
“Wow, Chinese kung fu!”
Holding the child, Ye Qiu floated in the air, moving back and forth, until he finally descended with the help of Mu Tao and the others.
Click, click, the sound of cameras filled the air.
Lu Chen was in class when his phone suddenly rang.
“One day, your true love will come to you on a rainbow.”
“Who is messaging during class and smiling so happily?” Xiang Yuanyuan teased.
Lu Chen bragged sweetly, “My boyfriend! He said he’s made an amazing invention and is heading to find a company to collaborate with. He even said he would take me out for dinner to celebrate if it works out!”
Beside him, Yi Ruxin rolled her eyes upon hearing this.
As if Ye Qiu could invent anything, always pretending to study hard; just the other day, she had gone to him with an assignment, and he couldn’t get through the basics, leaving her to finish it on her own.
Lu Chen was too easy to fool.
She wondered what was up with Ye Qiu lately; he had been affectionate towards her. Could it be that he was genuinely bending towards her? After all, he had clearly told her he was straight.
Yi Ruxin felt something was off.
“Oh no, his friend said he got arrested by the police. I need to rush there!” Lu Chen sneaked out through the back door of the classroom.
Yi Ruxin flipped her hair back and straightened up to listen more closely, but Lu Chen was already gone.
Did she hear that right? Ye Qiu was in the police station?
How interesting.
The police received reports of a child falling from a building and quickly dispatched officers. Upon arrival, they found the scene in disarray.
“Everyone, step back! Where’s the child that fell? Get the injured onto the vehicle!”
As the police arrived, the crowd retreated, revealing Ye Qiu awkwardly holding the child.
The child, still in disbelief, clapped his hands excitedly, “Flying! Flying high!”
Officer Wang looked at Ye Qiu, asking, “You, explain what happened.”
“A child fell from the building, and I caught him,” Ye Qiu replied seriously.
“No, it was from the seventh or eighth floor. This young man swooped up and caught him!”
“This guy has practiced Shaolin skills; he can fly!”
Officer Wang, hearing increasingly absurd claims, said, “You, you, you—come back to the station to write a report. We’ll find out what really happened.”
“I saw everything! I was right beside him; let me write the report!”
“Why you? Officer, I’m taller; I saw better!”
This was the first time Officer Wang encountered someone so eager to write a report, and he ended up taking all the enthusiastic ones away.
“Alright, tell me what happened,” Officer Wang asked, looking at the clearly studious Ye Qiu.
Ye Qiu described verbatim the entire process of coming out from their dormitory to catch the child at the bottom of the building.
“Officer, that’s how it happened.”
His voice was clear and pleasant, and he looked exceptionally handsome while speaking with great politeness.
But that didn’t hide the fact that he was just a college student in his twenties!!!
Officer Wang felt his heart break; he was only twenty-eight, and didn’t he look that old?
Taking a deep breath, he asked, “So you caught a child falling from the seventh floor?”
Ye Qiu nodded.
“You mean you flew up and caught the falling child in mid-air?”
Another nod.
Flying up, the child must think he’s Superman, still holding onto someone in the air. If it weren’t for Ye Qiu’s serious demeanor, Officer Wang might’ve thought he was watching a circus magic act.
